JAMIE Cox’s return to the ring is set to be shown live on BoxNation.

The 28-year-old southpaw was due to make his comeback at the Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre on January 31.

However, following the announcement of Keith Mayo and Paddy Fitzpatrick’s show on February 13, Cox’s trainer John Costello said that they decided to pull that show.

But with the former Commonwealth light-middleweight champion eager to get his career back on track after a not fighting since the June 2013.

And Cox has now been confirmed to fight at the Wolverhampton Civic Centre on February 14 on the undercard of Stephen Ormond and Terry Flanagan WBO European lightweight title fight on a televised show promoted by Frank Warren in association PJ Rowson.

“There were a couple of reason why we had to pull the show, one of them being the Keith Mayo show in February which meant it would have affected our undercard,” Costello said.

“But Jamie has had an offer to fight on a Frank Warren show on February 14, along with my son Joe.

“It will be a six or an eight rounder, there should be a bit of TV exposure, which is great for Jamie.

“We want someone who is durable, someone who can give Jamie a few rounds, but giving how he is looking in the gym at the moment that is going to be tough to find.”

Cox, who is stepping up to middleweight, has been sparring with unbeaten American welterweight Cecil McCalla, who is fighting Chris van Heerden at Madison Square Garden on Friday night for the IBF international title, in readiness for his return.

“Jamie is looking incredibly strong in sparring,” Costello added.

“What is really exciting about Jamie right now is that when he fights on February 14 he will be boxing with two hands for the first time – he always used fight with one-and-a-half.”
