KEITH Mayo will have three of his Swindon fighters on his next show in Gloucester.

The Greenbridge-based promoter will look to get Danny Bharj, Ryan Martin and Tariq Quaddus out at the GL1 Leisure Centre on April 18.

The trio all came through unscathed from last week’s tests on the World Awaits show at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Welterweight Martin was the pick of the bunch with a classy shutout performance against 103-fight veteran Kevin McCauley, while lightweight Bharj managed to get through his first fight in four years with a points success over Dean Evans.

Light-heavyweight Tariq Quaddus, in his first fight since winning a British Masters Bronze title in December, managed to maintain his cool to win every round against the highly unorthodox Gilson De Jesus.

“We have a show in Gloucester on April 18 and we will have Ryan, Danny and Tariq on that,” Mayo said.

“I was well impressed with Ryan Martin, Danny Bharj and Tariq again.

“He is a class act Ryan – he was brilliant. That was a tough lad he boxed in Kevin McCauley, he is always out and always busy, so I’m very pleased.

“Danny has been waiting so long to get out and get that win. I think that will build his confidence and he will progress.

“He was fast, he has more to learn but that was a step in the right direction.”

Meanwhile, Mayo believes that Kelvin Young will be able move on from his draw from Joe Walsh.

The Penhill pugilist improved on his last outing, a shock defeat to Kiril Psonko in November, but was left scratching his head at how he was awarded a 57-57 draw against the man from Croydon, who only has two wins on his record.

The 27-year-old will now step up to face the undefeated Chris Hobbs in a British Masters Bronze light-heavyweight eight-round title fight on March 28 in Portsmouth.

“I felt that he had just done enough to have edged it,” Young’s manager Mayo said. “Kelvin changed his training regime and rest of it so he will learn from that and move on.

“Kelvin is boxing on March 28 in Portsmouth against Chris Hobbs, who on the face of it looks more dangerous than the lad he fought on Friday.

“We will work on some tactics and I’m sure he will be OK.”

As well as the Masters title contest on the agenda for Young, there is also a possibility of a British super-middleweight title eliminator fight on the horizon for the former IBO inter-continental champion against the highly regarded Liam Cameron with a date and venue to be confirmed.
