TARIQ Quaddus’ trainer Richard Farnan is looking to get his light-heavyweight back into the ring next month.

The 24-year-old is already pencilled in to appear on Keith Mayo’s next show in Gloucester on April 18, however, Farnan, who has since begun training Swindon’s Joe Beeden as well, wants his charge to maintain his momentum.

Quaddus’ comprehensive shutout win over Gilson De Jesus has kept the southpaw ranked 11th in Britain in the light-heavyweight division.

“Tariq will be out in April on the Gloucester sho, but there is a possibility of another show in Leicester in March which will I’m going to sit down and talk about,” Farnan said.

“I really want Tariq out and busy.

“I was very pleased with that performance (against De Jesus). Obviously, the late change of opponent didn’t help but it was what it was.

“Tariq had dealt with that (unorthodox) style before when he fought Jody Miekle – and he did it brilliantly again.”

Quaddus, who has won all of his seven fights since joining forces with Farnan last year, himself felt that he had to remain patient in the face of the Nottingham-based Angolan’s antics.

De Jesus pulled faces, crouched low and shouted, all in an attempt to put the British Masters Bronze champion off.

“He was really tricky on the inside, talking, screaming, showboating; but I kept patient,” Quaddus said.

“I stayed mature and stuck to the plan.

“He was all over the place. I couldn’t let any of my power shots off because he would have seen them a mile off.

“I stayed patient and won the rounds. After the third round, he started to respect my power, he went on the back foot.”

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Beeden is in action this evening when he travels to Villa Park to face Louis Fielding.
