Cirencester ABC travelled to Wales for a show hosted by Alwaye ABC, with Johhny Varey against home favourite Tyler Meglio.

The first round saw Varey take charge and dominate the bout, catching Meglio with head and body shots and not allowing the Welsh boxer to get his punches going.

In round two Varey upped his game, catching Meglio with left hooks to the body and rights to the head.

This was the pattern throughout the bout, with Varey winning on a unanimous points decision.

Coach Simon Knowles said: “That was a great win. Johnny boxed superb.”

The club then headed to the Brostol-based Sweatbox ABC and returned with a trio of winners.

Varey was back in action in a 37kg contest against Downend’s Sonny Tucker. Round one saw the Ciren 12-year-old box well on his toes, catching Tucker with two and three punch combinations.

This didn’t deter the Downend boxer, who was coming forward trying to land his own punches but he could not connect as Varey took another unanimous points decision.

Thomas Varey was up next for Cirencester against Bailey Hannis from The Factory ABC in Gloucester.

From the bell Hannis was looking to land the big punches but to no avail, with Varey staying out of range before landing scoring shots of his own to take the decision.

Dave Davis made it three wins for Cirencester when he faced Swindon-based Horseshoe ABCs Cameron Lampard in a 57kg bout.

In an all-action bout, Davis seemed to edge the first round with the cleaner punches, with Lampard battling back and catching Davis with straight punches.

The third round saw Davis land left to the body of the Horseshoe boxer, which resulted in him taking a standing eight count.

Davis eventually won on a unanimous points decision.
