DANNY Bharj believes that he will be much more relaxed when he steps between the ropes for his second professional fight.

The former Walcot and England amateur will face durable welterweight Matt Seawright on the New Generation show at the Grange Drive Community Centre on Saturday, June 27.

And having felt the pressure of making his debut back in February, the 26-year-old believes that he will be able to put on a better show when he faces the veteran of 124 bouts.

“I felt under a lot of pressure when I made my debut - it was like a comeback fight for me because I’d been out of the ring for so long,” Bharj said.

“This time around I’m feeling much more relaxed and looking forward to something enjoyable.”

The former amateur star had several false dawns before finally making his professional debut against Dean Evans.

But he says as well as the nerves of making his bow, Bharj admitted that it was a struggle to make the 138lb agreed weight.

“Because it had been so long (since I lasted boxed as an amateur) I had forgotten how to make weight,” he said. “Before I’d be doing every two weeks in the amateurs.

“I was that worried that I wouldn’t make the nine stone 12 that I actually came in at nine stone nine.”

Having returned to the gym last month, Bharj says that being able to come in for the clash with Seawright at 144lbs will give him a lot more strength.

“I needed a bit of a break after the February fight as I had such a long camp for my debut,” the former junior ABA champion said.

“I’ve been back for three weeks now and there are a few more weeks before fight night.

“I’m coming in heavier this time and that will definitely help with my punch resistance.

“But Seawright is a very experienced fighter. I just want to go out and put on a good performance.”
