KELLY Morgan will make her professional boxing debut next weekend in Bath.

The Swindon-based 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist was set to make her bow in the New Generation at the Grange Drive Community Centre at the end of June.

However, the former England netball international was forced to wait due to delays in her boxing licence being issued, while the show was eventually cancelled due to injuries to Ryan Martin and Kelvin Young.

But the 35-year-old ex-ABA runner-up has now got her licence signed off by the British Boxing Board of Control and will feature on the undercard of Malmesbury’s Joe Hughes’ English light-welterweight title bid against the unbeaten Anthony Hardy at the Bath Pavilion on Saturday, July 18.

Morgan was originally slated to face former world title challenger Szilvia Szabados last month and her team were hoping to bring in the Hungarian for this show.

But Szabados has been handed a WBC super-middleweight title shot against Germany’s Nikki Adler this Friday.

Morgan, who will campaign between middleweight and super-middle, will now face Klaudia Vigh.

The Hungarian comes to the ring having lost eight of her 11 bouts- the last being a points loss to Kleopatra Tolnai
