AFTER months of to’ing and fro’ing on social media, Kelvin Young and Sam Couzens finally get the chance to complete their triology.

The pair, who have won a fight apiece in this rivalry, will collide on the Lights Out show at the Oasis Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 24 for the light-heavyweight Challenge title.

As the pair met to discuss their upcoming battle at the official launch there was plenty of joking around between the two.

But when that bells going in four weeks time, Young will be in no mood for joking.

Couzens won the first contest with a fourth round stoppage of the Penhill pugilist in Gloucester in May 2013, but Young Gun gained his revenge four months later as he successfully out-boxed the Titchfield fighter to defend his Southern Area middleweight title.

A lot has changed since then, except Young’s confident self-belief.

“We have both been calling for this fight,” Young said. “Sam had fights lined up and things kept getting in the way, then his fight with Ricky Summers got cancelled.

“I noticed it on Ricky’s Facebook (page) and said to Sam ‘why don’t we have it on the Swindon show?’ He has obliged and it is on.

“I’m always confident of winning, I was confident of beating him in the first fight, that didn’t happen.

“I just have to keep my training going, which I am, perform to my best ability and then I’m sure that I’ll get the win.”

With the pair growing from the 160lb division, Couzens has grown in a natural 175lb fighter, while Young still has ambitions in the super-middleweight category.

But the 28-year-old believes that he will be able to bring extra power up with him.

“Sam is going to be strong, it is a weight he is natural at,” Young said. “But I think I will be strong at that weight.

“It is unknown territory for me but I’m looking forward to get in and getting the win and putting this (rivalry) to bed.”

After a testing domestic boxing season last year, Young feels that he is getting back his best.

Having flirted with training outside of Swindon, first in Bristol and then in Gloucester under John Pitman , Young, who got married in the summer, is back under the watchful eye of his former Penhill ABC coach Joe Wrona.

“The (Kiril Psonko) fight was tough for me as I got beat,” Young said. “Then I got stripped (of my IBO inter-continental title), Richard Farnan and I parted ways, I had to find my feet again.

“I have recently got married and had a break let my body recover and now that I have got four weeks until go at it again.”
