JAMIE Cox, Ryan Martin and Danny Bharj were guests of honour at their old club Walcot’s winter show, writes Dave Veysey.

The trio, who are all unbeaten in the professional ranks, presented Brandon Spillane with the ‘Best Walcot Boxer’ trophy after a second round stoppage victory over Cheltenham’s Ryvern Masardo.

Joining Spillane on the winner’s rostrum was 24-year-old Said Salem, who returned to the ring after 18 months to claim a points win over Weston Warriors’ Lewis Mulhall.

Eleven-year-old Sammy Harris was edged out by Kai Ademi from Downend ABC.

Sammy’s older brother Nigel,13, also lost a close battle on points, his opponent being Trowbridge’s Harry Glover.

Walcot’s Western Counties Schoolboy champions Drew Hunt and Luke Scott Browne both lost close contests to split points’ decisions to Launceston’s Callum Charnock and Ferndown ABCs Billy Saunders respectively.

Thirteen-year-old Hannah O’Brien improved on her previous performances but still lost a close bout with Heath and Reach Club’s Georgia Watson.

Fred Bond,12, showed some flashes of skill in his loss to Jude Moore from Downend ABC.

Kyran Rouse, and Alex Masters, both 11, and twelve year old Connor Dobson, all performed heroically on debut but lost to Marshall Stevens, (Downend), Kieran Dunford (Frome) and Nathan Lewis (Whitchurch), respectively.

Ryan Owens, 15, lost to Augustin Lakatos from the Empire Boxing Club on points, while 14-year-old Adam Copnell found Luke Stanley too strong, despite a battling performance from the Walcot youngster.

There were also non scoring skills bouts from 10-year-old Devonte O’Brien, 12-year-olds Taylor Kelly and Kyle White, and 13-year-old Josh Harkness.
