Jordan Wall was crowned National NABGC champion in weight class 44-46kg, class B after beating Luke Riley, from Gemini ABC, in Liverpool, in the finals in Bristol.

The first round saw Wall dictate the pace, moving well up on his toes and landing quality left-hand jabs and not allowing the Liverpudlian to get into the bout.

With Wall throwing two and three-punch combinations on the inside, Riley was still battling back gamely but with no answer to the boxing ability of Wall, who won on a unanimous points decision, becoming the first Cirencester boxer to win a national title.

ABA Coach Simon Knowles said: "What a feeling. The club is absolutely buzzing. We have a lot of good boys in the gym that can go a long way and to see Jordan win the National has given all the boys a good incentive and made them hungry for success. Well done also to all the coaching team that we have at Cirencester ABC.’’

  • WALCOT boxer Owen Poole made his debut for the club in a skills contest at the National Smelting Club dinner event at the Henbury Social Club last Saturday, writes DAVE VEYSEY.

The 12-year-old faced Lewis Greenslade from the host club over three one-minute rounds in an entertaining contest.

Greenslade started the better in front of his home supporters, landing with his left jab whilst keeping on the move.

Poole grew in confidence as the bout progressed, and began to hit the target with left jabs of his own during the middle session.

Both lads attacked during the final round, with both receiving a great ovation at the final bell from the packed crowd.

There is no result in a skills bout, so both boxers had their arms raised by the referee.

Walcot Coach Daniel Hughes said afterwards: "It was great for Owen to get some ring experience this evening, as he has not been in our gym for very long.

"He has trained hard recently to make this bout and he will learn a lot from it’.
