WITH boxing in Swindon booming, Danielle Brown is looking to put together about the history of the art of pugilism in the town.

Having written a blog called ‘A Town’s Boxing History: Swindon’, Brown is now looking to work alongside the local studies team at Swindon Central Library and the residents of Swindon to expand the post, firstly into a book, then a documentary, detailing the town's extensive history of boxing.

This will be the first of its kind, and with the present day boxing scene, it only makes sense to add more updated additions in the future.

For now though, Brown is calling out to anyone who has been involved in any aspect of boxing in or around Swindon during the 20th century.

During the next few months, she will be extensively setting up interviews and meetings, gathering footage, photos, newspapers clippings and programmes in order to gather as much information for the book as possible.

Brown said: “It is vital that no one is left out. The more people who are involved, the more accurately we can depict the boxing history of Swindon.

“It was lots of fun writing the blog post. There was an overwhelmingly positive response, plus there are so many great stories and interesting accounts to be heard.”
