JOHNNY Varey stole the show by beating the experienced Korben Crocker, from Premier ABC in Swansea, and picking up best boxer of the night trophy in Wales.
Cirencester ABC’s Varey was getting his punches off a lot faster than his opponent Crocker, the Welsh schoolboy international having no answer to Varey’s hand speed as he won on a unanimous points decision.
Also on the show was Cirencester’s Martin Jones, making his ring debut against Decon Acebride, from Rison ABC.
Jones made his mark felt from the start of the first round, landing left and right-hand punches, winning on a unanimous points decision.
Ciren coach Simon Knowles said: “John has beaten some good boys over the last 12 months but this, for me, was his best win, beating a top talented boy.
“That was Martin’s first bout for the club and he put up a great performance.’’
