PADDY Fitzpatrick has hailed clinical Sam Smith following his second professional victory.

The Fitzpatrick-trained light-heavyweight claimed a 40-37 success over Bryn Wain in Gloucester.

The former England amateur, who will be appearing on the undercard of Kelly Morgan’s WBC Silver middleweight title fight at the Oasis Leisure Centre on March 12, was in dominant form, according to his trainer, as he defeated his gallant opponent.

“I think giving the other lad a share of one round was being kind,” Fitzpatrick said.

“Sniper was clinical and so dominant and worked well behind his jab, but the lad he fought never gave up, kept bringing the fight, and deserved credit for that.

“We had been working hard on his stance in the build-up to this fight and he showed the improvements.

“We are back in the gym polishing up what he did on Saturday and he will be back out in March and then possibly again in April.

“Sniper has had two tough guys in his first two fights. This time, I want more of a boxer for him.

“It is too early to start talking opponents because he you can’t really lock them down until you get closer to fight night.”
