KELVIN Young secured a first win in almost a year on Sunday night when he claimed the British Challenge light-heavyweight title with a technical knockout victory over Chris Hobbs.

Swindon’s ‘Young Gun’ was returning to the ring for the first time since being stopped in the first round by former footballer Leon McKenzie on January 30 but did not let that defeat hold him back in Portsmouth.

Young, who turns 29 next month, took home the belt after stopping his opponent in the fourth round, with the previously unbeaten Hobbs revealing on social media after the fight that he had suffered a dislocated shoulder at the end of the third.

The win was Young’s first since he triumphing in a re-match against Joe Walsh in April 2015 and is set to be back in the ring before too long.

Young took to social media himself after the fight to reveal he had received “two big fight offers”.
