KELLY Morgan will still have her shot at the WBC Silver middleweight title, says trainer Richard Farnan.

Morgan suffered the disappointment of having her challenge for the WBC crown taken away from her last week but the organisation have said that they will keep the title vacant until her next fight, which is being pencilled in for May.

Morgan’s stablemate Ryan Martin was also set to fight at Saturday’s Oasis show and now Farnan says they both must put the frustration behind them.

“They are very disappointed, having put three months of hard work in,” he said. “They were both ready, excited, and firing on all cylinders to get out there and show what they could do.

“This came with a week to go and it is a bit shattering.

“We’ve spoken to quite a few people and the WBC have said that they are going to hold the title open for her, so when she is back out, that will be our next fight.

“Ryan is still on course to have his next fight and shake off any type of rust and he hasn’t really got any with the sparring he has had. It has been better than the fight he was going to have.”

For welterweight Martin, Saturday was his second cancellation in a row, which will put back his aims of fighting for the WBC Youth Silver title this summer.

Both Martin and Morgan will return to training next week and Farnan is in talks with promoters to get them back out in two months’ time.

“Ryan has had two disappointments,” added Farnan.

“He was supposed to fight in December and his opponent fell through at the last minute and we couldn’t find an alternative for him, and then we have had this one.

“We’re all positive and we’re all working again. Ryan is away on holiday right now and Kelly is just ticking over lightly.

“When Ryan gets back next week, we are going to start camp, looking to hopefully get back out in May.

“Other things have got to fall into place and we’ve got to find a promoter who is going to have a show, which we think we have got.

"It is one of those things and we are just back on it.”
