CIRENCESTER ABC made the short trip to Cheltenham, where the two Harris brothers – Billy and Nigel – were in action.

First up was Billy Harris against the experienced Titon Klinsrisuk from Gateway ABC in Sussex.

From the start, the Ciren youngster boxed superbly with a tight guard, catching his opponent with left and right-hand punches.

This was the pattern throughout in what was a highly-entertaining bout, with Billy eventually winning on a unanimous points decision.

However, Nigel Harris was unable to follow in his sibling’s footsteps as he suffered defeat against his opponent CJ Mohoney, boxing out of the Christ The King ABC in Coventry.

Ciren have several of their boys in action today in the Western Counties Finals, hosted by Chard, Ilminster and District ABC at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club.

Johnny Varey, who is one of Ciren's fighters in action, has been tipped as one of the favourites to go all the way in the national schoolboy championships as a result of his impressive record.

Varey has beaten some of the best boys in England and his record currently stands at 18 wins and 5 losses.
