KELLY Morgan is aiming to feed her hunger tonight as she looks to become the WBC Silver middleweight champion.

The 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist faces Germany’s Lisa Cielas at the Grange Drive Leisure Centre in a bid to not only lift her first professional title but also become the mandatory challenger for the world crown.

Morgan, who claims she has run through tonight’s game plan many times in the build-up, says that the excitement for this bout has grown throughout her training camp as she puts her nerves to one side.

“As fight night gets closer, I get more excited than nervous – although I’m still very nervous,” said Morgan, who tipped the scales yesterday at 155lb, while Cielas was 2lb heavier. “It (the fight) is going through your head the entire camp. It intensifies the closer it gets because it is on your mind and it is very immediate.

“I did a 45-minute run the other day and for the whole time, I was running through the fight in my head – what I was going to do to out-punch her, outmanoeuvre her, outpower her – running through those scenarios, and that does help.”

After yesterday’s weigh-in, Morgan, her trainer-manager Richard Farnan and stable-mate Ryan Martin headed out for their traditional pre-fight Nando’s.

With Morgan topping the bill, she says that while still wanting to see Martin in action against Arvydas Trizno, she will arrive at the Stratton St Margaret venue later than she normally would do.

“After the weigh-in, we went and had our chicken and sweet potato – it tastes so good when you are hungry,” she said.

“Then on Friday, I will spend time with my mum. I won’t do anything with anybody else until the night time.

“It (fight night) is very draining. There is such a fine line of being at your peak and being over it.

“I will come in a bit later. I will be there for Ryan’s fight, but maybe not too much before that.

“I want to watch him. The Grange is packed in close for everyone, so I will decide on the night, but I’ll probably just be peeking through the door.”
