WALCOT ABC’s Said Eltuyev has set his sights on a place at next month’s Youth World Championships in Russia.
The 18-year-old, who is originally from Russia himself, has been training with Team England at the home of British Olympic boxing in Sheffield in a three-day camp and will head to Northern Ireland for a further week-long session next week.
The Swindon teenager is aiming to compete at 64 kgs (light-welterweight) in St Petersburg from November 17-26 and trains twice a day, six days a week with Walcot.
Walcot Amateur Boxing Club’s chief coach Harry Scott said: “Everyone at Walcot Amateur Boxing Club wish Said the best of luck and we will all be supporting him.”
Meanwhile, Churchfields Academy pupil Sammy Harris was the first club representative to box this season in Northampton, the 12-year-old losing out on points.
Walcot host their annual Night of Boxing home show at Supermarine rugby club on November 18.
