PADDY Fitzpatrick and three of his boxers’ Luke Watkins, Sam Smith and Ryan Martin have formed a sports management company called Trifecta Sports Entertainment.

The new venture aims to promote the trio as well as other sports people in Swindon, with fellow Fitzpatrick fighters Harry Webb and Jason Manners signing 12 month contracts with the company.

The announcement, which was made over the weekend, had previously been labelled as ‘game changing’ the by Ferndale Road-based trainer.

Making the announcement, Fitzpatrick said Swindon could soon be a hub for the sport, which has seen a spike in interest over recent years.

“Boxing for the last seven or eight years has been on the rise in Swindon, even the white collar scene has helped professional boxing,” he said. “It’s growing, Swindon has been a town that has produced fighters throughout the years, it’s exciting now because Swindon is turning into a boxing town.

“We have the opportunity to build it bigger and bigger if we do things right and that is what we are hoping to set out to do.”

Fitzpatrick also announced the group already have four shows lined up for next year, with the first coming in March, as well as outlining the vision for the company. “It’s a company which is going to start promoting sports personalities in the town, mainly focused on boxing,” added the Irishman.

“When young fighters are starting out, they need to be able to promote themselves in order to sell tickets.

“They have already signed up two young men in Harry Webb and Jason Manners, there are four shows already booked for next year, we have March 4, June, September and November.

“If we are able to put on more shows in between, we will be doing that too - it is going to promote them as sportsmen,” said Fitzpatrick.
