SWINDON boxing promoters Mark and Tony Neilson put on a professional show, supported by amateur bouts, for the first time this weekend.

The event will be opened by boxers from Swindon-based Horseshoe Amateur Boxing Club, with the amateur bouts including Karum Aujla, this year’s 32kg Schoolboy champion and Sam Vallis, who was a finalist in this year’s Youth Championships.

Head coach Brian Roberts said: “We’re really pleased to be working with the Neilsons on this show. It’s great that the pros can support the amateurs and the lads are really looking forward to it.’’ The professionals will include a pick of the region’s boxing talent and is headlined by Reading welterweight Tamuka ‘Too Much’ Mucha.

Currently ranked number five in the UK and undefeated in 16 outings, Tamuka is looking to extend his unbeaten run and chase for a British title shot later this year.

Chief support is undefeated Akeem ‘Riiddy’ Ennis-Brown, the Gloucester fighter hoping to make it eight wins from eight against Polish opponent Lukasz Janick.

Other supporting fights include undefeated fighters such as Frome’s Ryan Wheeler, Gloucester’s Kane Stewart, Bristol’s Wayne Ingram and the debut of Ledbury’s Alex ‘Pinky’ Florence.

Mark Neilson said: “We thought that a Pro-Am could offer something a bit different whilst also offering the young lads a big stage to perform on and giving something back to the local clubs. It gives Swindon a chance to see some of the potential stars of tomorrow."
