Reynolds back to winning ways

WALCOT boxer Mark Reynolds made a dream start to his senior ABA campaign with a first round victory at the Broad Plain Boys’ Club in Bristol.

The popular heavyweight overpowered Nathan Madge from the Forest of Dean for a comfortable early win.

The opening minute saw both boxers trying to find their range, but Reynolds was first to hit the target with a stunning straight right which caught his opponent flush on the chin.

Madge attempted to move away from the danger area but the Walcot boxer closed him down and scored with a flurry of punches which led to the referee issuing the Forest man a standing count.

Reynolds, pictured right, then continued to hunt his man down, and he connected with an unanswered barrage of punches which led to the referee waving the fight over.

A delighted Reynolds said: “I was pleased with my power and accuracy today, but I know I have things to work on.

”That was only my second contest this season, so I know I will improve as the competition progresses.”

His coach Harry Scott added: “Mark has trained hard in recent weeks and deserves his success.

“Now he has to continue to work hard if he is to go all the way.”
