Walcot junior boxers performed with credit but failed to gain the decisions at the Cheshunt ABC event in Hertfordshire, writes DAVE VEYSEY.
Thirteen-year-old Jimmy McDonagh was involved in a real humdinger with local boxer Tommy Smith.
Both of these youngsters are ranked in the country's top 10 for their age and weight, and royally entertained a packed crowd.
Last season’s national schoolboy semi-finalist appeared to land the cleaner shots, but at the end of three exciting rounds Smith was awarded a majority points victory.
Walcot chief coach Harry Scott said of the youngster: “That was Jimmy's first bout for about five months so he will improve for it, but I felt he did enough to win a close contest.”
Milo Bolton was making his debut against Ben Trainer from the host club.
The 11-year-old kept throwing left jabs and straight rights throughout the contest, but the home boxer was awarded a unanimous points decision.
His coach Lionel Macrea was pleased with his debutant, adding: “Milo boxed really well for his first time and many people ringside thought that he won it.
“If he keeps training hard he is going to be a real prospect for the future.”
