Walcot host first show of the season

Walcot ABC host their first event of the season tonight at the Supermarine Sports and Social Club at South Marston.

Around 16 boxers from the central Swindon gym will be in action in what promises to be a top bill of amateur boxing.

Boxers from Chepstow, Guildford, Weston Super Mare, Gloucester and Bristol make up the opposition from afar, with the local opposition being provided by the Swindon Boxing Academy.

Chief Coach Harry Scott has matched all the bouts, and is keeping his fingers crossed that the event is a big hit, saying: "Our show is the only way of raising funds for the club except through the boxers' weekly subscriptions, so we need it to be a success.

"We are self-financing and receive no money from local or central government.'

The boxing will start around 8pm tonight with doors opening at 7pm.
