Walcot ABC host their final show of the season at the Supermarine Sports and Social Club this Friday.

The central Swindon gym hope to put on 15 or 16 contests, competing against clubs from Bristol, Cheltenham, Tiverton, Guildford, Birmingham, Poole and London.

In action will be Walcot’s national schoolboy champions Patrick McDonagh and Said Eltuyev.

Fifteen-year-old McDonagh faces Tiverton’s Corey Westbrook, while Eltuyev, 13, meets Kane Corby from Earlsfield ABC in London.

Also in action will be the club’s national schoolboy semi-finalists, Lawrence Rees, Kieran O’Donoghue and Jimmy McDonagh.

Walcot also hope to give professional jump jockey Felix De Giles his ring debut, although his day job has caused an added complication to the schedule, as Walcot chief coach Harry Scott explained.

“Felix is riding in a race at Aintree late Friday afternoon, and then has to make the 190-mile dash to Swindon for our show,” he said.

“He really has to make it to our event by 9pm to stand a chance of boxing.

“It is not the ideal preparation before stepping into a boxing ring, but we will play it by ear and see how he is on the night.”

The doors open at 7.30pm on Friday with boxing starting at around 8pm. Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
