Fightclub returns to Swindon Meca
6:00am Thursday 21st June 2012 in Boxing
SWINDON Fightclub returns to the ring next weekend with a knockout card featuring 10 hotly anticipated amateur fights.
Following the success of the first event in February, which was a sell-out, the white collar show is back at the Swindon MECA on Saturday, June 30 with first bell at 6.30pm.
Olympic gold medalist James DeGale and Prizefighter champion Robert Lloyd Taylor will be in attendance, as well as the current undefeated WBO Intercontinental champion Frankie Gavin.
The main event of the evening sees Dave Gregory take on Phil Williams in a heavyweight contest, with the Ultimate Non-Professional Boxing title on the line. The pair are contrasting in styles, with Honda worker Gregory coming from a cage-fighting background, while doorman Williams is a former amateur fighter with Penhill Amateur Boxing Club.
Both men are in confident mood ahead of their meeting, and Gregory is promising to put on a show.
He said: “My boxing is getting better and better, and I am confident I have a lot more power than he does.”
Williams added: “I have more boxing experience than him and I am 10 years younger, and at 26 I will have more in the tank and that could be crucial.”
A host of fighters who appeared in the first show in February are returning to the ring, with Lee ‘Hollywood’ Hedges hoping to keep up his unbeaten record when he takes on Dave Porter.
Fratellos worker Edoardo Tatangelo also returns and takes on Jamie Horn.
Tickets for the event cost £20 or £40 for VIP tickets, and are available by calling 01793 495527, while they can also be bought from The Khyber, Fratellos, from any of the fighters or at swindontickets.co.uk.
