Boxing legend Larry set for Swindon date
LEGENDARY boxer Larry Holmes is coming to Swindon next month.
The former world heavyweight champion, who is one of just five men to have beaten Mohammed Ali, comes to town a month before he is inducted into the boxing hall of fame.
Holmes, who defended the WBC heavyweight title 20 times before losing it to Michael Spinks in 1985, retired in 1995, aged 52, after losing bids to regain the title against Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Oliver McCall.
The boxing legend comes to Swindon on May 14 for a sporting dinner organised by KM Promotions at the De Vere Hotel.
Also on the bill for the night will be fellow boxers Earnie Shavers and Brian London.
Organiser Keith Mayo is delighted to have clinched a deal to bring Holmes to Swindon.
Having just staged a highly successful dinner with footballers Paul Merson and Neil Ruddock last week, Mayo cannot wait for his next event.
"This is a fantastic coup," he said. "To get a former boxer of the calibre of Larry Holmes is amazing. I am really excited about the night.
"He is one of the best heavyweight boxers to have lived. It is set to be a great show and I can't wait."
Tickets are available £65 each or £590 for a table of 10.
There are also VIP tickets available where you will be able to personally meet Holmes for £90 apiece.
To book your place call Keith Mayo on 0778 9890453.
