BRITISH boxing sensation Amir Khan is at the top of Jamie Cox's hit-list - and the Swindon Southpaw insists he has the tools to stun the nation's favourite.
Cox continues his education with a bout against Stourport's Billy Smith on the undercard of Khan's latest show on Saturday, but the former Walcot man already has his eyes on a bigger prize.
He knows any potential meeting with Khan is still a distant dream, with the Bolton man being fast tracked to stardom, but Cox is prepared to bide his time until his date with destiny arrives.
Khan has been thrown into the national limelight ever since winning silver at the 2004 Olympics as a 17-year-old lightweight and is already being touted as future world champion.
Cox, who has the same promoter in Frank Warren, on the other hand is being slowly edged into the sport having turned pro last year, but the Commonwealth Games gold medallist believes their paths will one day cross.
He said: "It is something I want one day and something that I believe can happen. It may take a while because of politics and money but one day, yes I can see it happening.
"Once I start winning titles, which I hope won't be too long down the track, things become different for me and I start getting the big fights. Amir Khan would be a real exciting challenge.
"Amir has really fast hands but I believe I would be able to cause him a few problems, especially in a few years time because I will be a better fighter."
For the moment though Cox will settle for sharing the big stage with Khan - admitting the more big events he can take part in the better for his future.
"I have had some really good experiences already in just over a year as a pro," he said.
"Obviously I have fought on the same bill as some world championship fights.
"If I can handle the big occasion now then when I start getting involved in the really big fights I will know the nerves won't bother me."
Those with ticket stubs from the fight with Billy Smith will gain free entrance.
