SWINDON captain Liam Tucker says his side are going into the unknown when they face Chippenham in Glos/Wilts this weekend.

Having had their scheduled clash rained off earlier in the campaign, the two teams will line up against each other for the first time in several seasons, with Chippenham desperately needing a win to steer themselves clear of relegation.

Tucker said: “It’s been a few years since we played them, to be honest, we’ve been in different leagues. We don’t really know what to expect.

“We’re probably expecting a reasonably tough game. They’re in those teams at the bottom who need to get a couple of victories.

“With the league structure is at the moment, it allows teams to go up and down. Teams can pull together a good core nucleus of players and can hang around for a few years.

“Look at Rockhampton and others like that who have come up, whereas some of the larger teams like ourselves have fallen back down the other way and are looking to go back up.”

Tucker’s batsmen have rediscovered the knack of making big scores in recent weeks and the Swindon skipper is hopeful that trend might continue tomorrow.

“If the batsmen can put 270 or 280 on the board week in, week out I’ll be a very happy captain but we know it’s not always going to be the case,” he said.

“Sometimes 200 will be a winning score, depending on the pitch and overhead conditions.”

Swindon are unchanged for the game.
