SAM Lawro struck his second half-century of the season for the early Division One pace-setters Wootton Bassett.

After his 96 last weekend, the Bassett opener helped guide his side to an eight-wicket success over Urchfont.

The hosts were dismissed for 93 and Darren Beasant’s side needed just 24 overs to reach their target.

Swindon Civil Service claimed a 47-run victory over Nationwide House after dismissing them for 116.

SWINDON United Churches continued their perfect start to the season with a fourth straight win at Spye Park.

On a soft, green wicket, Spye Park put Churches in first and they quickly removed opener Keith Coatsworth, who failed to trouble the scorers.

However, Jimmy Mann (70 from 76 balls) and Danny Hunt (36 from 53 balls) steadied the ship for Churches, exhibiting self-control and restraint to take the score to 77-1 at drinks.

The run-rate gradually increased against the Spye Park change bowlers and by the time that Hunt and Mann had both fallen, the platform for a big score had been set.

Some destructive hitting from Chris Gilchrist (87 not out from 56 balls, including five sixes), allied with a busy 27 from Liam Brooks, allowed Churches to post 234-7.

Captain Richard Martin, who took 6-36 from his 11 overs, led the Churches attack as they ripped through the Park top order as they slumped to 15-4 and then 37-6.

Park captain David Beal (19), Tom Beard (40) and Simon Ellis (25) showed some fight for the hosts but the introduction of Jimmy Mann’s spin brought the innings to an abrupt end at 112 all out.

SWINDON Nalgo claimed a seven-wicket success over Collingbourne.

Collingbourne made a slow but cautious start as they were 58-2 after 20 overs.

Owen Sheppard and Dave Gale put on 56 from the next 10 overs in their 69-run partnership before the latter fell for 28.

Sheppard went 30 runs later for 56 leaving Dave Malley (30*) and John Aitken (28*) to to steer Collingbourne to 197-4.

In reply, Nalgo reached 51-0 before slipping to 61-2 but the Swindon side reached their with 25 balls to spare.
