CAPTAIN Joe Breet has been satisfied with Lechlade’s swift adaption to life in WEPL Premier Two as they go in search of a second win in three this weekend.

Lechlade were crowned Glos/Wilts Division champions last term and kicked off their life at a new level with a win away at Cheltenham a fortnight ago.

Breet’s men then lost at home to Potterne last week but will fancy their chances of getting back on the horse when they host second-from-bottom Shapwick & Polden on Saturday.

“We’ve lost one game and we were disappointed to do that but hopefully that’s the last one we lose,” said Breet.

“We don’t take anybody lightly but if we perform as well as we can we know what we are capable of.

“I’ve played at this level before and I don’t think there is a massive difference between them.

“The side we have got is full of talented players and we know we can beat most teams in the league on our day.”

Tristan Hawkes is unavailable for Lechlade this weekend, while Breet is also set to be without Freddie Martin as he is back at university for an exam.

Breet said: “It’s not ideal but that is one of the challenges we have to face as a team. We have got a couple of players coming up but it shouldn’t affect us too much.”

Lechlade were made to pay for losing the toss against Potterne and could only post 151 after being asked to bat in tricky conditions. The visitors then swiftly chased down that total for the loss of just two wickets.

“Last week the result was a lot down to the weather and losing the toss. I think that had a massive impact on the on the game,” added Breet.

“The first hour and a half was difficult but after that it became a lot easier. If they had batted first I don’t think they’d have got a lot more than what we did.

“We are at home again this weekend and hopefully the wicket will be better and hopefully it’s good weather too.”

WOOTTON Bassett will aim to make it three wins from three in Division One of the Surridge Sport Wiltshire League when they entertain Box tomorrow.
