POTTERNE'S Ed Young hit a century to help defending champions Wiltshire into a strong position at the end of day one of their Unicorns Championship Western Division clash against Dorset in Bournemouth today.

Former Gloucestershire ace Young hit 144 as Wiltshire were dismissed for 357 in the final of their 90 overs at Dean Park before Dorset closed on 89-3 after 30 overs of their reply.

Having won the toss the visitors chose to bat but lost Luke De Souza and Uzi Qureshi before the score had reached 40.

However, Mike Reynolds and Young linked up to put on 152 for the third wicket before Reynolds departed for 86.

Young would later add 84 for the seventh wicket wth clubmate Neil Clark (36), Mark Wolstenholme and Jake Lintott taking three wickets for the hosts.

Potterne's Jake Roberts then gave Wiltshire the ideal start in Dorset's reply, removing opener Masoor Khan leg before first ball.

Corsham's Ashur Morrison dismissed Ryan Scott for one, caught by wicketkeeper Michael Bates but Michael Porter (17) and Luke Webb put on 73 for the third wicket before Young had Webb caught for 49 by De Souza.

Wiltshire were 275 runs ahead at stumps.
