PURTON will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in WEPL Wiltshire Division for the first time this season when they make the trip to in-form side Trowbridge on Saturday.

Aaron Lee’s men ended a run of three straight defeats with an impressive 149-run success at home to Calne last weekend and must now use that to try and kick-start a charge up the table.

Daniel Booth-Howe top scored for Purton with a valiant knock of 56 as they posted 219-7, although the emphatic scoreline was chiefly down to the efforts of Bippinsuni Gattapur with the ball as he returned miserly figures of 4-13 to dismiss Calne for just 70.

However, Purton face a stiff challenge to build on that promising result as they face a Trowbridge side sitting third in the table and high on confidence off the back of a victory over league leaders Marlborough last time out.

Meanwhile, Marlborough captain Arran Dickinson is confident that his table-toppers can bounce back from defeat to Trowbridge when they travel to Winsley.

Marlborough make only one change to last week’s team with the return of wicketkeeper-batsman George Penfold, however, there is no return for seam bowler Dave West.

Dickinson said: “The Trowbridge result was disappointing, especially at home, but once we had discussed the game between us and what we thought had gone wrong, we all realised that it was nothing serious and that with some hard work and determination, we can get our title campaign back on track this Saturday.

“We have a full-strength side for the trip to Winsley, with selection this week being very difficult as nearly everyone in the first-team squad was available for selection, and we have had to make some very difficult decisions.”
