BATSMAN Jon Sore labelled his unbeaten 98 as the most important innings he has produced this season as he led Swindon to a third win in a row with a four-wicket triumph at Biddestone.

Sore has plundered 439 runs in eight league matches so far in the 2015 campaign at an average of 73.17, including racking up a century against Burbage and Easton Royal back in May.

Although he came up agonisingly short of reaching three figures for a second time this summer, Sore says the knock against Biddestone was no less special.

"It’s always nice to get runs. I’ve had a couple of innings this season when I’ve scored well but we haven’t won the game and the team winning is always the most important thing,” said Sore.

"It was just nice to be there to get us in a position to win the game, so that probably makes it the most crucial and satisfying innings I’ve had this year.

"It was a really good win. We have struggled to get results at Biddestone in recent seasons - I don’t think we have won there since I have been in the first team.

"It’s a tough place to go and play, so that made the result extra sweet."

Hosts Biddestone won the toss and elected to bat but an excellent effort with the ball from Tom Codling (4-28) helped restrict them to 190-9.

In fact, had it not been for the efforts of Dominic Hendricks (72*), Swindon could have ended up chasing a total even lower.

Sore added: "Tom has done really well in the last few weeks. I think he’s taken nine wickets in the last two games.

“His bowling has been incredible and there has been times when he’s won games for us on his own.

"He’s the youngest guy in our team and is certainly one to look out for in the future.

"The game plan was just to keep them down as low as possible.

"I think from the position we were in near the start, we should have kept them a bit lower but they got away from us towards the end.

"If you can keep someone to around 180-190, then that’s a pretty good effort but we still knew we were going to have to play well in the second innings.”

Swindon’s reply did not get off to the best of starts as they lost opener Paul Paginton cheaply but Sore joined Marc Williamson (26) and the duo began to rebuild.

Wickets soon began to tumble again but Sore remained unflustered and finally found a partner keen to hang around in the shape of skipper Andy Staff (21*).

And the duo took the visitors over the winning line with more than three overs to spare, with Swindon reaching 191-6 early in the 43rd over.
