MATCH-WINNING all-rounder Tom Bowler says Purton are looking up rather than over their shoulders as they bid for a third win on the bounce when they entertain Malmesbury.

Bowler took five wickets and scored a half-century as Purton beat Devizes by five wickets last Saturday, the first time they have won two matches in a row this season.

Those results have hauled Aaron Lee’s men away from the threat of relegation and they now lie sixth.

Although there is a sizeable 22-point gap between Purton and the team immediately above them, Devizes, Bowler has not given up hope of finishing as high as possible if they are able to continue their excellent late-season form.

“We are doing alright at the moment and the confidence is up. There are four games left and there is no reason why we can’t win all four,” said Bowler.

“We have got Malmesbury next and we’ve got Calne the week after. They are both struggling down near the bottom so we will certainly be looking to get another couple of good results.

“It’s a good run in for us and we definitely want to be looking upwards instead of over our shoulders.

“Of the games left you’d probably only say Trowbridge are the ones who will probably definitely beat us but the rest are all very winnable.”

Marlborough will be looking to strengthen their position in second when they play host to Great Bedwyn.

The title challenge of Arran Dickinson’s men has been derailed by a recent three-match losing streak, although they got back to winning ways last weekend with victory away at Calne.
