ANDREW Staff is eyeing victory over Tewkesbury on Saturday to all but confirm Swindon’s place in the reformed Glos/Wilts Division next season.

With the West of England Premier League set to undergo a restructure at the end of the campaign, Swindon’s main aim has been to ensure they are still plying their trade at the same level next summer.

A heavy loss at home to Chippenham last weekend saw Staff’s men slip to third from bottom in the table.

But they will only go down if Tewkesbury are able to overhaul a 43-point deficit over the last four games.

The two sides go head-to-head at the County Ground this weekend and Staff is looking for a victory that would seal his side’s survival for next season.

“The overriding aim has been to make sure we are in Glos/Wilts next season and the only thing that can stop us now is Tewkesbury,” said Staff.

“It would take them winning their last four games and us losing our last four.

“We play them on Saturday and if we beat them that relieves the pressure and we can start looking at the teams above us.

“We are pretty much in the same position as we were in the first half of the season.

“We played the top teams first up and then the last four are against teams in and around us.

“We’d certainly be looking to win more than we lose and if we can win a few it will move us up.

“We just want to put in a good performance on Saturday as we know we haven’t been good enough in the last couple of weeks.”

Matthew Kidd will return to the Swindon side to open the bowling on Saturday having sat out the defeat against Chippenham, while fellow bowler Mike Wilson earns a recall from the second XI.
