LECHLADE skipper Freddie Martin is out to exact revenge when his side hosts Thornbury this weekend.

The Manor Ground outfit fell to a six-wicket defeat at home last season and despite gaining a reprisal with a 23-run success on the road later in the year, Martin is keen to ensure they complete the job at home.

Thornbury ended up finishing second in Premier Two – newly-named Prem Two Glos/Wilts – so Martin is not underestimating the task in hand but hopes Lechlade can continue where they left off against Chippenham.

“We should know what a good score is on the ground,” he said. “We know how the wicket usually plays, so hopefully we can use that to our advantage.

“We lost at home to Thornbury last season so we would like to put that right this time out.

“They always put out a good side so by no means will it be easy. We’ll have to turn up and play to the best of our ability if we want to get a positive result.”

Martin oversaw his first win as Lechlade captain in his first game in charge last weekend, Brad Dial scoring a century, and is enjoying his new role.

“It is a great bunch of young lads in the team and it is going really well early on,’’ said the 20-year-old.
