ROYAL Wootton Bassett made it two wins from two as they continued to set the pace in Division One with an eight-wicket triumph over Swindon 2nd.

The bowling of Tendai Maruma got the visitors to the County Ground in the ascendancy, his 4-17 from nine overs helping end Swindon’s innings on 137 as Mark Thatcher took 2-15.

Maruma also excelled with the bat, like Sam Lawro (57), Darren Beasant’s unbeaten 24 helping Bassett reach their target inside the 25th over.

Urchfont, who pipped Bassett to the top-flight title in 2015, are also unbeaten in their two matches following their four-wicket success over Hinton Charterhouse.

An innings of 11 from Hinton’s Chris Antrobus and 52 from Richard Newport allowed the home side to amass a useful 267-5 from their 45 overs.

Urchfont though were up to the task, an unbeaten 86 from Ben Hodder and Ed Munro’s 66 seeing them to 269-6 in the penultimate over.

Division Two

WINSLEY were indebted to their bowling attack as they clinched their second win of the campaign, defeating their hosts Swindon NALGO by 50 runs.

Charlie Holton’s half-century saw the visitors post 188-9 as Zak Anwar claimed 4-22 for NALGO.

Sanjay Chauhan led the reply with 42, but Winsley’s attack did the damage, Simon Orchard taking 3-30 as the Swindon innings ended at 138 after 37 overs.

Beanacre & Melksham had Bradford on Avon reduced to 68-6 at the halfway stage of their innings, despite 38 from Ian Pinchin, but a partnership of 40 between Jonny Andrews (15) and David Carter (27 not out) was to prove the match-winner.

Home skipper Chris Long was the pick of their attack with 4-16 but their lack of batting depth was highlighted as only Matt Hunt (11) got to double figures in their paltry total of 26.

Matt Knight took a superb 5-1 in 5.1 overs, with Matt Harington taking 2-4 in five.

Swindon United Churches fell to a 72-run defeat away at Warminster 2nd, despite a fantastic start from captain and opening bowler, Richard Martin.

Left-armer Martin (3-28) took three early wickets to reduce the hosts to 13-3 before a spirited recovery was mounted by the Warminster foursome of Tristan Lundqvist (64), Ryan Mee (22), Akash Saraswat (53) and Sanjay Malik (31).

Churches rallied to restrict the hosts to 222-9 but their reply got off to a shaky start before Matt Runkel (30 from 52 balls) and number three Daniel Hunt (21 from 40 balls) added 48 for the second wicket.

Churches eventually closed on 150-9, young leg-spinner Bradley Small taking 3-45 for Warminster.

The Spye batsmen laid the groundwork, Arthur Dodson (71) and Mike Du Boulay (5) the linchpins of their 280-9, Luke Draper taking 4-60 for Corsham.

Three wickets for Pete Ellis (3-27) ensured Corsham were never on the pace with their reply, which closed at 137-8.

Division Five

A DOMINANT performance by Bathford earned victory over league newcomers Combe Down.

Having elected to bat first, a 159-run partnership for the second wicket between Adam Brunton (59) and Paul Merrett (98) was the platform for a challenging total of 222-6.
