House foundations strengthened as Nationwide take on leaders

10:30am Friday 3rd July 2009

NATIONWIDE House hope to have strengthened their line-up for their second meeting in seven days with Globe Sports West of England Premier League Wiltshire Division leaders Marlborough.

The Pipers Way outfit were dumped by six wickets at their rivals last weekend but, as the second half of the season gets underway with the reverse fixture, skipper Joe Perkins admits time is running short for his strugglers.

Only Westinghouse prop up House at the bottom of the table and, with just one win to date, they desperately need wins to take them clear of the basement.

Perkins, pictured left, admitted: “Only wins count now in the reverse of the fixtures.’’ He will be able to welcome back the Clarke brothers, Jon and Nick, to reinforce the batting line-up after they missed last week’s defeat due to a stag party.

The bowling is boosted by the return of Mark Morris and Adam Tooze, who performed well with both bat and ball in the second string last month.

Nationwide’s second go to Marlborough with an entirely new top seven batsmen, skipper Marc Yates returning as does Jason Griffiths behind the stumps.

Elsewhere, third-placed Goatacre’s pursuit of the leaders is likely to face a severe examination at Winsley, who are one place below them in the table.

Purton, currently fourth from bottom, can improve their standing by defeating mid-table visitors Calne.
