Bassett end Asians' fine unbeaten run

WOOTTON Bassett inflicted a first defeat of the season on Asians in Division One of the Indoor Cricket League.

A victory looked unlikely early on as Bassett could muster only 94 all out, despite 32 from Luke Bradley-Leach.

Jag Chahal bludgeoned 43 in reply but Asians came up 12 runs short at 82 all out.

At the other end of the table, Nationwide remain winless having lost by 94 runs to Shrivenham, for whom Mark Whale smashed 43 not out.

Swindon moved closer to the Division Two title after despatching both KC Club and Nalgo by five wickets and four wickets respectively.

Wootton Bassett 2nds could well join them in Division One after easily seeing off Nalgo 2nds and KC Club.

Ian Lancaster hammered six sixes on his way to 56, as Bassett rattled up an impressive 150-4 to beat KC’s by 56 runs.

In Division Three, Highworth look strong favourites for top spot having knocked over Cirencester and Woodlands in recent weeks.

At the bottom, Minety did their chances of survival the power of good when they beat Woodlands by four wickets.

It remains a three-cornered fight in Division Four, following good wins for United Churches and Shrivenham 3rds.

Meanwhile, Asians ran South Wilts close as they missed out on becoming indoor Wiltshire champions by 24 runs at Croft Sports Centre.

The Salisbury side’s progress was hampered by the loss of three early wickets, but they recovered to make 115 in their 12 allotted overs.

This proved too many for Asians as they were bowled out for just 93 in the last over.
