Nationwide House just missed out on writing their name into the history books following a final-day defeat to Marlborough at the weekend.
The men from Pipers Way had gone into the game knowing a win would be enough to cement a record-high fourth place in WEPL Wiltshire Division after a stunning second half of the season had propelled them up the table.
Confidence was high following the comprehensive win over Great Bedwyn last time out and hopes of victory were further heightened after Marlborough were bowled out for 103.
Skipper Joe Perkins did the most damage, taking 3-17 while George Penfold top scored for Marlborough.
But the hosts rallied as George Fox took six wickets to help skittle Nationwide House out for just 68 and seal a 35 run victory.
Consequently, fourth place instead went to Marlborough, leaving House to settle for fifth.
Elsewhere, Swindon CC signed off their WEPL Glos/Wilts Division season with a 21-run victory over Rockhampton.
Swindon had posted 256-5 in their innings before bowling Rockhampton out for 235.
