THE WILTSHIRE County Darts Open at the Ferndale Club Swindon was a huge success, as 92 entrants from as far afield as Wales took to the floor to try to win the £500 first prize.

The winner was Steve Alker from Pontyberem in Wales, who beat Stuart White from Banbury 6-4 in the final. White picked up £200.

The two losing semi-finalists were Swindon’s Chris Aubrey and Berkshire’s Jason Heaver.

Eight ladies entered and Stacey Day progressed the furthest and picked up £25 for her efforts.

The organisers of the event are hoping to run a separate ladies event next year.
