WILTSHIRE showjumper Jessica Mendoza has added further honours to her already impressive season by recording her first four star win this weekend at the Longines Global Champions Tour in Antwerp.

Riding Spirit T, the combination produced a lovely round against a strong field in Friday’s CSI4* Against the Clock 1.50m class, to take the win just 0.3seconds ahead of fellow Brit Tim Gredley.

Ahead of her win aboard Spirit T, the UK Sport lottery funded World Class Development rider had also competed in the 1.45m class, finishing in sixth place aboard stallion Ramiro de Belle Vue.

The 18-year-old went on to post an impressive win in Saturday’s Table C, Speed and Handiness 1.45m class where, again partnering Ramiro de Belle Vue, the combination produced a clear quick round of 62.85seconds, to take joint first place with Poland’s Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski.

“It was my first 4* and I knew I had to go quick to win,” Mendoza said. “I am thrilled with Spirit. She jumped an amazing round.

“In the second event they were going very quick and I knew I had to go as fast as possible to win”.

Mendoza’s next big target is European selection, with her recent successes seeing her sit 16th in the DaciaRetail.co.uk Team GBR Rider Rankings.
