SWINDON Town’s Girls Centre of Excellence survived the weekend weather to take on Watford at Swindon Academy’s 3G facility.

The under 13s produced the performance of the day to record a memorable win over the Hertfordshire outfit, as goals from Natalie Goodright and Eloise Hayward secured a 2-1 victory.

Under 13 manager Clive Maguire was delighted with the performance, saying: “The girls really deserved this victory against a strong Watford side and they got their just desserts with all the hard work they have put in since September within the training sessions.

“We have worked extremely hard on retaining possession and also receiving the ball. The girls put training into practice with a very professional and enjoyable performance with a great team effort "

The under 15s lost their match, and manager Shane Hewlett was disappointed with the team's display.

He said: “After our win over Swansea this was a below-par performance and we will need to work on the training ground to put things right. I would like to single out our goalkeeper, Rhiannon Brown, who performed magnificently despite picking up a injury halfway through the second half.”

The under 11s, meanwhile, played a round robin festival against Watford at Croft Sports Centre.
