FRATELLOS picked up in 2013 where they left off at the end of last year, crushing DJC Marlborough 5-0 to open up a six-point lead at the top of the Swindon & District League Premier Division.

The table toppers romped into a three-goal lead at the break against DJC, as Charlie Grabe Aaron Webb and Dave Slattery’s penalty added to their bottom-placed visitors’ woes.

And there was no let-off after half-time, as Steve Bunting smashed home twice in the second period to put the gloss on another comfortable victory.

To make matters worse for DJC, Fratellos’ veteran goalkeeper James Whitlock saved a penalty in the last minute.

Swiss Chalet Rangers lost ground on the league leaders after they slipped up 4-3 at home to AFC Globe.

The visitors took the lead in a scrappy encounter through Ashley Piotrowski and extended their advantage thanks to Nigel Baker’s strike.

Swiss Chalet bounced back and drew level courtesy of goals from Gareth Walton and Lewis Polden, but Globe edged back in front after Jonathan Slattery converted a penalty.

All that came before the break, but the game tightened up after the interval. Baker gave Globe a cushion with his second of the game and, though Darryl Herring scored for the hosts to cue a frantic last few minutes, the away side held on.

Ferndale WMC made a slovenly start to the new year in Division One, as they were hammered 8-1 at home by Sportz Central.

Alisto Pires and Pete Oakwell both hit hat-tricks for Sportz Central, while Clinton Novaes and Royston Fernandes also got their names on the scoresheet.

Fox and Hound beat Chiseldon 5-2. Fox went ahead in the sixth minute through Darryl Kemble before Cary Watson added a second 11 minutes later.

Stuart Cody pulled a goal back for the visitors straight from the restart, but almost immediately Fox went down the other end and Darren Rudman made it 3-1. The home side made the game safe just before the break when Lee Gratton rounded off a fine solo run with a clinical finish.

Cody found the back of the net in the 50th minute to give the visitors lingering hopes of a revival, but it never materialised and with 10 minutes to go Cary collected Dean Bird’s pass to notch Fox’s fifth of the afternoon.

Ramsbury edged past Larry’s Plaice 2-1. Ramsbury scored first through Dan Callaghan, Larry’s Plaice levelled but Daniel Francis popped up with the winner for the hosts.

Old Town maintained their 100 per cent record this season with a 4-0 victory over Swindon Spitfires. Chris Woods registered a brace for Old Town, sandwiching strikes from Dan Head and Dale Bird.

Finally, Bassett Bulldogs did the season’s double over Tap and Barrel, as Chris Edwards and Wayne Matthews scored their goals in a 2-1 win away from home.
