HARRY Etheridge reckons Supermarine can keep their strong Division One South & West form going until the end of the season.

A spate of postponements has left the South Marston side with 24 games between now and April, with Cinderford away the first of these on Saturday. However, midfielder Etheridge feels that even if the Marine squad is stretched by multiple fixtures, the team can still keep positive results coming in.

He said: “It’s going to be hectic. With loads of games coming up it’s going to be difficult to keep the same team week in, week out.

“When we’ve been playing well Dave (Webb, boss) has said he will try and keep the same team, but with 24 games coming up that’s going to be tough.

“But we chopped and changed quite a bit when we won 10 on the bounce so it can be done.”

It looks like Marine’s long-term injury victim Dan Wallington will miss the rest of the season due to a sporting hernia.

Elsewhere in the division, Cirencester manager Brian Hughes has hailed new keeper Glyn Garner as a pleasure to deal with.

The Centurions have struggled to find a regular stopper this season but former Welsh international Garner appears the perfect fit.

“I am so massively pleased to have Glyn on board,” said Hughes, whose side visit high-flying Hungerford tomorrow.

“We have had lots of problems with our goalies over the last 18 months but Glyn has been a breath of fresh air.

“He has already indicated that he wants to be involved with us next season as well.”

Ciren have also been bolstered by the signings of right-back Shane Anson and Cirencester Academy winger Josh Morse, while initial loanee Leigh Henry is now on non-contract terms after Maidenhead agreed to cancel his deal at York Road.

In the Southern Premier, Chippenham boss Nathan Rudge has told his players to forget about the disappointing defeat to Banbury last weekend.

The Bluebirds were sunk 2-0 by the Puritans and have not won in the league since December 1.

But with a home clash against Bideford coming up this weekend, Rudge is keen for his squad to mentally move on.

He said: “We can’t dwell on it. I’ve been in football long enough to know that you can’t do that and all you should concentrate on is putting it right as soon as you can, which we’ll work on in training. “We’ve just got to draw a line under it. Manchester United lost 6-1 to Manchester City so every team has days like that.“ Chippenham winger Luke Ballinger will skipper England at the main qualifying round for the European Championships in March, after the Three Lions came through the preliminary stages.
