SUPERMARINE boss Dave Webb has underlined his desire to bring silverware to the club for the first time since he took over.

The South Marston side welcome Salisbury to the Webb’s Wood Stadium tonight in the final of the 2011/12 Wiltshire Premier Shield.

The county competition was scheduled to be completed last season, but the Marine chief feels this does not devalue its prestige and is desperate to secure the title.

“It’s not a game with no importance. I want Supermarine’s name on that trophy,” said Webb.

“It’s a cup final, we’re in it and it’s a chance to bring a trophy to the football club, so to me it’s very important. We want to win it, of course we do.

“This game is vitally important and we’ve got to make sure we do it properly, whoever plays.

“We’ve got a couple of new additions which gives us probably 18 bodies now and that will give me the option to look at a few different things.

“We haven’t really been able to get any momentum recently and this game will give us the opportunity to get that.

“I believe in good habits and hopefully we will take a win into the next couple of league games.”

Webb could hand starts to new signings Ben Whitehead and Mani Randhawa, the latter of which made a brief substitute’s appearance in the 1-0 win over Cinderford on Saturday.

But whoever the boss starts with in terms of personnel, as many players as possible are likely to get a run-out.

“I’m a big believer that if you have got a player at a football club, you must believe they are good enough,” said Webb.

“I expect them to go out and deliver a performance and play in the way I ask them to.

“Whatever shape I intend to play, the players should be able to deliver a performance good enough to win us the game. If not that changes your selection for the next few games. It’s an ideal opportunity for everybody.”

Fairford Town booked their place in the semi-finals of the Floodlit Cup thanks to a 2-1 win at home to Marlow last night.

Highworth though went down 1-0 at home against Holyport in the Hellenic Premier.

In the Southern League Premier, Chippenham lost 2-1 at home to Hemel Hempstead while in Division One South & West, Cirencester went down 1-0 at North Leigh.
