SOUTHERN LEAGUE: Webb relishing prospect of Merthyr test

Swindon Advertiser: Supermarine boss Dave Webb Supermarine boss Dave Webb

SUPERMARINE could go third in Division One South & West tonight and boss Dave Webb says he is relishing the prospect of a trip to Merthyr.

The Welsh side’s Penydarren Park ground will host the Southern League clash and Webb cannot wait to experience the ‘incredible atmosphere’.

“It will be boisterous, intimidating and an interesting test. You couldn’t wish for anything better,” said the South Marston chief.

“I played my first Southern League game there as a young midfielder for Forest Green Rovers on a Tuesday night and I will never forget it.

“It’s an incredible atmosphere. Their crowd are like the 12th man.

“There was 300 out there on Saturday and I expect there will be a decent crowd there on Tuesday.

“If you can’t get yourself up for this game, you’re in the wrong sport.

“I can’t wait for it, I wish I could play. Hopefully my players will want to go there and show their improvement and progression this season.”

Webb could be without midfielder Sam Morris due to an ankle problem that has kept him on the bench recently.

Jamie Prictor came off with a tight hamstring at half-time in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Evesham and is also touch and go.

Marine have not lost in their last four games in all competitins but they are up against a side that has not lost in the league since December 8.
