THE season may only be a month old but Longs Bar have already completed a double over Wheatsheaf with a 7-0 win.

Longs have only played two league games so far this season, but the way the fixtures have worked out both have been against Wheatsheaf, with the home side also running out 3-1 victors last time out.

Those wins have been either side of knockout cup wins against County Ground and Penhill United, to round off a perfect start for the league new boys.

A hat-trick from Josh Parsons added to goals from Josh Harper, Elliot Corp, Mason Worthington and a penalty from Dan Kingsley to complete the one-sided scoreline.

“It was a good win for us considering we had four or five players out, we’ve got a few new players in the summer and they are doing well,” said left-back Worthington.

“The way the fixtures have gone that is the second time we have played Wheatsheaf already this season and they are not that bad a side.

“We didn’t score until about 20 minutes into the game but then the floodgates opened.

“They had quite a few players out as well so they had three or four different players to what they had last time we played them.

“I think we just passed the ball around a bit better than them and they weren’t getting any spar change out of us, and we could have scored more.

“We are surprised by the start we have made, we knew what Division One would be like so we tried to strengthen over the summer.

“When we come up against the top teams in the league like Gas and Greyhound that’s when we are really going to have to be on our game.”

In the only other game in Division One, AFC Gas bounced back from their shock cup defeat at the hands of second division outfit KC Globe.

Gas played bottom of the league Inter Sandgate and ran out 12-2 winners to give them their first win of the season.

In Division Two, Deers Leap continued their perfect league record with a 4-2 victory over Nationwide Pavilion to remain the early pace-setters.

However, Globe remained on their heels with a 4-2 win away to Penhill United, to add to their cup scalp over AFC Gas the week before.

In the division’s other two games CH2M Hill and Wanborough both got their first wins of the season with victories over The Windmill and West Swindon Wanderers respectively.

There were plenty of goals in the fourth division as Penhill got their first win of the season with an 11-0 demolition of Old Town United, while DPR completed a 10-0 rout over Smart Movers.

In Division Five, Marlborough Town Casuals remained top of the league with a 15-3 win over Nationwide, while Cricklade lifted themselves off the bottom with a 4-1 away win to Gorsehill Borough.

Four goals for Craig Simmons and Max Derrick added to hat-tricks from Aaron Presley and Tom Wren and a solo effort from Michael Burns to round off the win for Marlborough.

Meanwhile in Division Six, AFC Royal put 13 goals past bottom of the league Northern Lights but Westbrook stayed top with a 4-2 away win to Save on Tyres Athletic.

Rosier Rovers enjoyed a 2-0 win at New Inn, with Will Rosier and Mike Wilkins on target.

Meanwhile in the Wiltshire Sunday Cup Walcot hammered Pig & Whistle 13-1, while Greyhound continued their impressive start to the season with a straight-forward 9-0 win over Melksham Forest Community Centre.

It was a day to forget for Rudis as they were on the wrong end of a 14-1 hiding at home to FC Buscots, while AFC Tap & Barrel went out in the first round to Bounce Squad with a 5-2 away defeat.
