PURTON manager Justin Miller is hoping that his side can build on last weekend’s performance when they when they make the journey to North Leigh United in Hellenic League Division One West.

The Redhouse outfit pushed league-leaders Longlevens all the way last Saturday, with the Gloucester side needing two late goals to snatch victory.

While Miller is all too aware that his side have lost their last four matches, tomorrow’s trip to Oxfordshire represents an opportunity for Purton to double the over their hosts, after beating them 2-1 in August.

“The week before we played Longlevens they went and beat Fairford 8-0,” Miller said. “We knew that they were a good side so we said to the boys that they needed to work as hard as them.

“They did that and, I know that we lost, the performance was something that we can all be pleased with.

“They scored two goals late on and we had a goal disallowed, so it is something that we can build on at North Leigh.”

Despite Purton defeating them on the opening day of the season at Redhouse, Miller is expecting a different side to the one they tackled in August.

“You just don’t know what sort of side they are going to put out,” the Purton chief said. “With it being their second team (the firsts play in the Southern League) you are never sure how many first team players they will have.

“We have got to go there and work hard and hopefully we can get a positive result.”

However, Miller will be without the services of Joe Dorey, Callum Hall and Marcus Hall with the trio unavailable.

Fairford Town will be looking to make it three wins in a row tomorrow, as they welcome Tytherington Rocks to Cinder Lane.

Gareth Davies’ side climbed off the foot of the table with a 2-0 success at Letcombe last Saturday to build on their 4-2 victory over Milton United in the Floodlit Cup.

New College Swindon will be hoping to take advantage of the managerial crisis at Wantage Town reserves when they make the trip to the Alfredians.

With Daniel Barry and Ian Lovegrove stepping up to take charge of the first team in the Southern League, Mark Teasdale’s Students face a team led by the club’s press officer and webmaster Aleck Everard, alongside James Kybred and other senior players.
