SWINDON Supermarine could travel to Yate Town tonight in the Red Insure Cup with only 12 fit players.

Manager Dave Webb was set to assess several of his players at training last night in the hope that one or two will be fit enough to at least make the bench.

The Webb’s Wood Stadium boss is also hoping that at least one of the four players he is in talks with will join in time for the trip to South Gloucestershire.

“I have been told by the league that we can register players up until four hours before kick-off (7.45pm),” Webb said.

“I had a phone call from Dan Martin on Monday to say that his knee is still sore so he is rated as 50-50, as are Luke Abrahart and Dave Bampton.

“If none of them make it, then that leaves us with only 12 fit players, but I’m hopeful that one of the four conversations that I’m having will come off.”

While playing a cup match with so many injuries is far from ideal, it does give Supermarine, who currently sit in 16th place in Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West, an opportunity to try and rebuild their confidence after a difficult start to their campaign.

“This is a competition that is loved by some and not by others but it is a cup competition and we want to do well,” Webb added.

The Marine boss will also welcome back striker Bradley Gray into the side for the first time in nearly two months following a shin injury.

Elsewhere Wootton Bassett Town will be looking to climb up the Hellenic League Premier Division table when they make the journey to Ardley United.

Paul Braithwaite’s men needed extra-time at the weekend to see off Wiltshire League side Wroughton and they will be looking for smoother sailing in Oxfordshire.

Fairford Town will be aiming to progress into the fourth round of the Flying Press Floodlit Cup when they make the journey to Division One West rivals North Leigh United.
