SWINDON Supermarine have been dealt another injury blow with the news Josh Morse is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Boss Dave Webb is already without several key players and winger Morse is likely to join the list of absentees for tomorrow’s home game against North Leigh.

The paperwork for Aaron Oakley’s switch from Frome Town was completed this week but the defender is not yet fit enough to play.

Webb is therefore hoping one of Joe Shepherd, Dan Martin, Eddie Stevens or Jake Simpson recovers from their respective problems to give Marine a full 14-man squad.

“Josh has turned his ankle. We’ll give him fitness tests but it’s not looking good that he will be able to play,” said Webb.

“It’s a shame because he’s been a real threat for us and one of our best players this season.

“We’re pleased to get Aaron in and it would be nice to have him available but he’s still very doubtful too. He was told to rest for three weeks and it’s only week two at the moment.

“Hopefully we can get one of the other guys back fit because we can’t keep on signing players.

“We’ve got a few guys at New College who we can have a look at if needs be.”

Webb will not be able to call upon Marcus Johnson-Schuster as the full-back returned to parent club Basingstoke Town this week.

“He had been a fantastic addition for us,” said Webb.

“He got injured and has gone back to Basingstoke but I think he is going to go somewhere else on loan.”

Marine are looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s disappointing 2-1 loss at Cinderford Town against a North Leigh side who are on a five-match unbeaten run in the league, culminating in an emphatic 11-0 defeat of Bashley last time out.

“Season after season, they are there or there abouts,” said Webb.

“With the quality they have, the play-offs should be the minimum. They’re 11th at the moment, so they are probably disappointed with that.

“It’s always a tough game against them. They are well-organised and one of the best sides in this league.

“What we need to do is improve our home form. We’ve only won one in the league and lost five, and that’s not good enough.”

Webb is still looking for a new assistant manager following Lee Spalding’s exit last weekend.

The Marine chief has contacted several possible replacements and hopes to make an appointment soon.

“I’ve spoken to couple of people but that’s all it is at the moment. There’s no decision yet,” said Webb.

“It was a complete shock and disappointment to lose Lee and it’s taken me a bit of time to get over it.

“There might be a resolution before the weekend but I think early next week is more likely.”
